Camden’s classy country rocker makes a
long-overdue return to the Kalamazoo with his new acoustic trio and the night
of North London Meets Nashville promises to be a cracker.
Alan made his name in the 90s as the frontman
of the legendary Rockingbirds, finest of all the British country bands.
Guitarist, singer and prolific songwriter
("One of the best of his genre and era,” said The Independent), he now comes
with two superb sidemen : Jim Morrison (not unfamiliar to the Kalamazoo crowd!)
on fiddle and mandolin and Patrick Ralla on banjo, guitar and vocal harmonies.
Expect many of Tyler’s original songs
recorded on his solo albums and with the Rockingbirds and
the Lost Sons of Littlefield as well as
interpretations of gems by his favourite artists including Waylon
Jennings, Buddy Holly, Merle Haggard, Gram
Parsons and Townes Van Zandt.
The show also includes some of Alan’s
"river songs” which, he says, "explore London”s hidden waterways and ‘fields
beneath’ that breathe life into the capital city” – warmly reviewed by Uncut as
a "persuasive, illuminating departure.”
