RHYS NICHOLSON
Comedian. Writer. Mother.
Razor sharp, daring and downright lascivious (I don't know what it means
either), Rhys Nicholson is a wit quickly gaining international acclaim.
After winning Best Newcomer at Sydney Comedy Festival
in 2012, Rhys has
gone on to perform all
over the world, including Edinburgh Fringe Festival,
Dublin’s Vodafone Comedy Festival and London’s
prestigious Soho Theatre,
garnering
audience and critical praise. They also quite liked his nice jackets.
Back home he is a fixture in the Australian comedy scene as a Sydney
Comedy Store regular and headliner in clubs all over the country. Known
within the industry for unrelenting, rapid-fire punchlines, he has supported
the likes of Kathy Griffin, Louis CK, Fiona O’Loughlin, Steve Hughes, Matt
Okine
and Wil Anderson.
Rhys has already plastered his jagged face all over
the TV as co-host of ABC
TV’s
celebrated documentary Gay Crashers, a panellist on Dirty Laundry Live,
as well as performing stand up on Melbourne Comedy Festival Galas, The
Great Debate, Comedy Up Late and JFL Stand Up Series and The Sydney
Comedy Festival Gala.
NICE THINGS PEOPLE HAVE SAID
‘So clearly match fit. The
most powerful he's ever been. He comes in peace
and leaves you in pieces.’ ★★★★½
HERALD SUN, MELBOURNE
‘Nicholson is an astute
satirist of the world around him. Clever, a bit below-
the-belt... blatantly very funny’ ✭✭✭✭✭ SYDNEY MORNING HERALD
‘Classic stand-up,
accessible, cheeky, occasionally outrageous, and of course,
downright hilarious’ ★★★★½ THE MUSIC
‘The epitome of the urbane raconteur… so naturally conversational’
